Our Ginseng

What is Panax Ginseng?

Ginseng was first documented in a compilation by a Han dynasty scholar, Shi You, over 2000 years ago. In later texts, a few hundred years later, ginseng was listed as an ingredient in 21 of 113 prescriptions, again highlighting the early recognition of ginseng’s importance.

More specifically, the Panax ginseng that Bing Han grows and processes, is one of China’s most revered traditional foods. For millennia ginseng has been a valued herb used in food widely in China.

Its use has expanded throughout the world and scientist have shown considerable interest in its constituents ginsenosides, found in the fleshy roots of ginseng plants. Today people around the world are including one of the world’s purest ginseng into their diet.

Bing Han’s Panax ginseng is carefully cultivated in Changbai Mountain using practises which are centuries old.

With the interests in healthy food increasing globally, Bing Han Panax Ginseng powder can deliver a 100% raw, and organic food.

What sets our ginseng apart?

Bing Han Panax Ginseng is a difficult plant to grow with very specific conditions which need to be met. Soil preparation must be done in a humid forested or sloped location that is shaded and away from sunlight. The soil preparation process takes two years and involves burning treetops of pine trees to form a natural organic fertilizer after which the soil is sifted dozens of times to eliminate bacteria. This all needs to be done before the planting and cultivation can commence.

Once planted, the ginseng is grown for at least six years and rotated to a different plot of prepared soil every two years to maximise its nutrient absorbency. When the soil is used, the soil must be planted with trees for the next 10 to 15 years until it can be used again.

The sophisticated preparation, planting and cultivation processes as described above are what gives our high-quality ginseng its prestige and value.
